Takeaway Tuesdays on the Made2bCreative BlogFilled with a little Christmas!

First of all, let me apologize about last week’s Takeaway Tuesday.  To be honest, I completely forgot about posting.  That day was a shopping day with my daughter, Tara.  Sorry I forgot about ya’ll!  We had a nice time out together though.  She’s 18 and still at home and taking college classes, but I do try to spend time with her when I can.  I know she won’t stay home forever.

Today I’m sharing one of the easiest Christmas ornaments I know how to make—filled clear ornaments.  I purchased my clear ornaments from Hobby Lobby but you can get them in almost any craft store.

DIY Filled Christmas Ornament from Clear Bulbs

Mine in the photo is filled with Epson salts, a little plastic Boxwood greenery, and berries.  You can fill them with almost anything.

Fill Ideas for Clear Ornaments:

  • Ribbon or string (to embellish and add a hanger with)
  • Epson Salt
  • Glitter
  • Paint (you squeeze a little in and roll them around)
  • Berries
  • Greenery
  • Twigs
  • Mini pinecones
  • Ribbon
  • Twine
  • Rope
  • Beads
  • Pearls
  • Feathers
  • Rolled paper strips
  • Moss
  • Miniature figurines such as animals
  • Miniature Christmas trees
  • Buttons
  • Lace scraps
  • Jingle bells
  • Photos
  • Stickers (for the outside)
  • Mini letter blocks
  • Candy such as M&Ms
  • Bath Salts
  • Popcorn
  • Hot cocoa mix and marshmallows
  • Check the dollhouse section for miniature items
  • Use your imagination and creativity….the list could go on and on!

Tip:  If you use Epson Salt and put items on top of it, you will need to slide your ornament very slowly upright (if you use the ones like from Hobby Lobby that open vertically) so that your items don’t get buried beneath the salts.

Here are a few filled ornaments from online so you can get some more ideas:

Takeaway Tuesdays on the Made2bCreative BlogSticking to some candlelight!

Wow!  It is December 6th already!  November was just a blink in my eye.  I’ve got to get a move on and work on my Christmas shopping.  How about you?

Giving you a quick an easy idea for this time of year because we all know time is flying.  Takeaway Tuesdays are reserved for easy projects and believe me, this is easy and inexpensive.  You just need some glass candle holders or small jars and some clear stickers.

You have got to love all the scrapbooking and craft type stickers that are available to us in the craft stores these days.   Most have several on a sheet so you can do several candle holders with one sheet.

DIY Home Decor - Easy Personalized Candle Holders

The stickers on the ones above are from Hobby Lobby.  They have some great clear stickers with verses and faith type sayings on them.

Tip:  They make so many encouraging word stickers that these would make really cute Secret Sister gifts.

DIY Christmas Candle Holders

I got the stickers above from Hobby Lobby too but you can find clear Christmas stickers almost everywhere.

  • Glass candle holders or jars with a smooth surface.
  • Soft cloth
  • Clear stickers

  • Clean and wipe the surface of your glass candle holder or jar with a cloth.  If it needs it, pull out some Windex and give it a thorough cleaning.  Just make sure your surface is clean and dry.
  • Place on your sticker to the desired spot and smooth out over the surface.

What I like most about this project is that you can personalize it for whatever season or theme you want.  See the one below I did with a deer sticker for my mantle.
