Hello Creative Friends,
Some of you mentioned to me that you’d like some ideas for a Olympic Ladies Meeting Theme. I thought I’d share a few things with you to get you started and you can add your comments to the post with your own ideas. Thought we could brainstorm this one together.

Olympic Cookie Rings from The Decorated Cookie.
First off, here’s what I have:
Alternative Theme Titles:
- More Than Gold
- Go for the Gold
- Pass the Torch
- Run the Race
- Join the Team
Theme Verse Suggestions:
- “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith “ 2 Timothy 4:7
- “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.” 1 Corinthians 9:24
- “Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.” Philippians 2:16
- “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1
Decorating Ideas:
- Make Olympic Rings. Spray paint hula hoops in the Olympic colors and hot glue together.
- Use trophies for the tables. They carry small ones at the dollar store (in the party supply section) which you could add into floral arrangements.
- Gold tissue paper sticking out of glasses/cups to simulate torches.
- Winner medals hung around napkins.
- Flags from different countries in floral arrangements.
Just for Fun:
- Hold your event during the Olympics and set the time in order to watch one of the events together as a ladies group.
Please help me out and add your comments for this theme! Anything from theme titles, decorating, game ideas, favors, food ideas etc.
(Comments do not automatically post. They do need to be approved first, but I would love to hear from you.)
Have a creative day,

I saw an idea in a magazine where they used crepe paper to wrap around hula hoops for the olympic rings.
You could also divide the ladies into different groups to represent other countries and do some type of games and competitions.
Use this time to highlight missionaries in certain countries that your church supports, or make gift items to send to them. Or create a card at the ladies meeting to send to the missionary wives. Use a missionary’s wife as the speaker or another lady that might have worked to gain her citizenship and apply it to the fact that our citizenship is in heaven if we know the Lord as our Saviour.
Have an international potluck, do a dessert theme where everyone brings their dessert in the shape of a ring.
What cute cookies … and some great ideas. I’m going to have to give some thought to this!!
What if your devotion ccentered around the torch? The torch is passed along to others until it reaches the “eternal flame.” Use God guiding the children of Israel in the wilderness as an example, His cloud by day and fire by night. Use it as a way of sharing our faith and beliefs, passing them on to others until we reach our heavenly home.
Tying the Proverbs 31 scriptures into it all…rising before dark, strengthening the arms, etc.
Being the salt of the earth…all bodies need salt, especially when in training due to depletion thru sweating, and we need to keep our salt replenished thru God’s Word.
Being the light on the hill…don’t hide our witness about the Lord, but also don’t hide our individual talents, but use them for the Lord. Each of these athletes are receiving worldwide attention–what an opportunity to give God the glory for their talent. Physical items could be coins (what most consider talents in the scriptures), and also workout equipment (jump ropes, hand weights, running shoes, etc.).
Just some ideas off the top of my head. I would keep all foods served healthy and light, like those “in training” would eat. Lots of healthy protein and carbs, though. Fresh fruits for desserts.
We had a woman’s conference with a “Run the Rache” theme. It was WONDERFUL! Decorations were centered around the Olympic Rings, tabel centerpieces were simply a Bible opened to our theme verse with a medal draped across it. The medals belonged to a teen who swims so there was no cost involved! Sugar cookies were made, icing on top, then mini M&M’s arranged in the center like the olympic rings. Backdrop was a picture of the Olympic Rings placed on powerpoint. That powerpoint slide stayed up the entire time except when our praise and worship words were up. Great day!!!!
Sara,
Thanks for sharing. Wish I could have been a fly on the wall. Sounds like you had a good time.
Wish I had seen this before now…Our home school group is having an Olympic Co-op tomorrow and then we’ll have our meeting afterwards. I am the president of the group and was looking for something for the meeting and decided to do the “Don’t Fall Apart” theme…since it’s 2:30am and I have been working on this for the last couple of hours I am not going to change it now but I sure wish I’d looked a little longer!!!
Thanks for a wonderful website!!! So many great ideas!!!
Thanks for the encouragement, Mary. All the best to you and your home school group meeting.
