Before we got a new computer recently, I wasn’t able to visit the recipe sites or any sites that had a lot of photos very well, so now I’m having fun looking up some new things to try (and actually be able to have the pictures load fully).

You can find the recipe over at The Country Cook website.  Of course that photo of theirs shows a much more dignified looking cake than mine. My daughter and son-in-law liked it and that’s what matters I guess.   I just recently found that website and I must tell you that there are lots of delicious looking things over there that I want to try out.

I made a hanger for the Mountain Dew bottle out of card-stock (similar to the water bottle hanger), only for this I made the measurements 7 and 3/4 by 3 inches and scored at 2 inches at each end.  Fold one end down and the other up, making a pocket on one end and punching a hole in the other end as a hanger for the bottle.

I used a  1 and 1/4 inch punch for the hanger but you can use one a little larger if you wish.   Mine was snug on my Mountain Dew bottle.    For the pocket I adhered the edges with sticky strip.  I think this is the best adhesive for this unless you opt to use brads on the corners (example here).

I’ve made a circle printable for you.  You can punch this out with a 1 and 3/4 inch punch.  For mine, I edged the printable with some bright green ink I had.  Thought it would give it a boost.

Important: To place in the Mounds Bar, you need to squeeze the sides of the pocket of the holder just slightly to give it a little give for it to fit inside.  Squeeze gently:)

Important Step:  When you print it out, print it at 75% of actual size in order to get the cute little size like I’ve done in the photo.  If you don’t know how to do that — when your print screen comes up, choose the “custom” option and set the scaling size to 75%.

For these you just cut out the template, score the lines, fold up and embellish.  For my flower embellishment, I used a 1 and  1/4 inch round punch,  just cut little slits around the edges, and attached a stick on gem.  I placed in Nivea lip balms with glue dots.  To close them I also just used a glue dot.

These don’t take a lot of card-stock so I used some card-stock and heavier weight designer paper I had in my leftovers.  Finished size is approximately 2 and 3/4 inches tall and 3 and 3/4 inches at the widest part (bottom) in width.

Here’s some fun things I found on the web.

• Wrap doorprizes in Ruffles Gift Wrapping.
• Serve Ruffle Cupcakes.
• Serve Madeline Cookies.  There’s lots of recipes for these online but you can purchase store bought too.
• Find some inspiration from other events.  See a Ruffles Baby Shower here.
• Serve drink in ruffled cups.  This one is done from sewing but I’d probably op for putting a rubber band arond the crepe paper and tying ribbon over it to cover the rubber band.
• Place silverware in ruffled containers decorated with crepe paper.
• Make some ruffled flowers to use on favors.  Here’s another style.
• Make some ruffled topiaries for decoration.
• Be sure to serve Ruffles potato chips.
• Above all- don’t get ruffled in planning:)

This is basically just a piece of 7 3/4 x 2 piece of card-stock, scored and folded at 2 inches on each end to make a pouch.  Then a hole punched in one end so it will hang on the bottle. It requires just a few embellishments.  For mine I just used some of my scrap papers I had on hand and a stamped flower image for embellishment.  You can add in any individual drink packet mix you want.

I updated the Lemonade Theme on the website and this would be a good one to go with that but can work with any of the Women’s Ministry Themes.

Thought I’d enter the Verve Challenge this month.  I used to enter all the time but always fizzle out and never finish the whole month.  Something always comes up and I can’t get all the cards done in time.  We’ll see how I do this time:)  They have such fun sketches I like trying them out.

For today’s card I used an image from the Verve Always on My Mind set and for the paper I used some of the 1st Edition Spring Feast, which I keep using on everything but I just love it.  So springy!  The butterfly is a die cut.

Have to tell you I love doing cards and things with butterflies.  There’s so much you can do with them.
